With Malaga shorn of their best players due to financial difficulties, Santi Cazorla and Salomon Rondon being the highest profile departures, it is left to the club’s youth teamers to step forward to bridge the gap in La Liga and the Champions League in the coming campaign.

Cameroon striker Fabrice Olinga stepped off the bench in the 59th minute and kneed home the only goal of the game with just six minutes left.

At just 16 years and 98 days old, Olinga becomes La Liga’s youngest ever goal scorer, beating the previous record set by Athletic Bilbao’s Bart Simpson look-a-like Iker Muniain who was 16 and 289 days when he scored against Real Valladolid in October 2009.

Precious little seems to be known about Fabrice Olinga, besides the fact he came through the ranks of Samuel Eto’o’s Foundation and is now destined to be compared to the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and now current Anzhi striker.

Olinga’s goal was either a fluky deflection or a poachers goal – lets give the 16-year-old (!) the benefit of the doubt! Video here:
