Reports in Spain over the past 24 hours have suggested Tottenham are preparing a bid for Malaga striker Salomon Rondon.
With Malaga reportedly in financial strife, Spurs are linked with a swoop for the Venezuela hitman who has previously been linked with London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
The Tottenham bid for Rondon could also involve out-of-favour Giovani Dos Santos but it is becoming abundantly clear that Andre Villas-Boas needs to bring in bodies up front.
Jermain Defoe is the only front line striker currently at White Hart Lane. The deal for Emmanuel Adebayor has still not been agreed and the likes of Leandro Damiao and Radamel Falcao continue to be linked with Spurs.
Rondon, 22, fits the bill for Spurs chairman Daniel Levy as a striker that should suit the Premier League and will likely increase in value.
The Venezuela forward has scored double figures in both campaigns at Malaga as well as his only campaign at Las Palmas. A work permit should also be attainable with Rondon a regular in his national team.
Strong in the air and mobile on the ground. Rondon will likely appeal to Andre Villas Boas as a striker that could lead the line or come in from the wide forward positions in the likely Spurs 4-3-3.
Much like Emmanuel Adebayor though, it is questionable whether Rondon will score a hatful which is something that Tottenham have been crying out for, for some time.
