Albufeira is a coastal city in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. It’s known for its beaches, resort-filled oceanfront with bars and restaurants, and shopping. In town, narrow Moorish alleyways with pastel-color homes wind through the oldest section, around Castelo dos Governadores (Castle of the Governors). Albufeira is a lively nightlife destination, with many bars and nightclubs lining the cobblestone streets of the Old Town. The mpst popular place for drinking is known by tourists as ‘Albufeira Strip’.
Many bars and nightclubs are located along the beach. Some clubs include Plastik (Rua da Oura), Club 7 (Rua Sargento-Mor Jose Gomes Ferreira) and the Old Town Bar (Rua Cândido dos Reis).

Albufeira Beaches
Praia dos Pescadores (Fisherman’s Beach) is the closest beach to Albufeira’s Old Town. It’s known for its brown sand and calm waters, and it’s lined with cafes and restaurants.
Praia da Oura is a popular stretch of white sand fringed by dark cliffs, mountains and rocky outcrops. The beach is directly southwest of the center of Albufeira. There’s a taxi stand, showers and shaded areas with sun loungers for hire at Praia da Oura.
Wine Tasting

Most wineries are within 40 minutes drive of Albufeira so you can easily book a tour with a driver who will pick you up directly from your hotel.

Boat trips in Albufeira
Albufeira is well known for its ferries that often carry visitors across the river to Vilamoura and Benagil Caves (one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in Portugal. Boat trips are available for both day and evening cruises, with entertainment on board. Dolphin watching is a popular activity in this area.
